Reptile Decor & Tank Decorations
Give your Reptile Vivarium a Face-Lift and Your Pet, a Mood Lift.
Reptiles may need the sun’s UV rays but they do not stay under it all the time. The fact is, in the wild, they spend a lot of time in the shade. In really hot places, or at times when the heat is too much, most reptiles retreat to some shady burrow. Then, they would come out to boost their body temperature as needed to keep their body systems working. While reptile lighting and heating are totally different subjects, there are lighting systems that generate heat as well. To keep your pet reptile healthy (and happy), your pet reptiles need climbing and hiding spots. Your reptile tank decor and reptile accessories doesn’t have to be a nightmare to setup. You can get a reptile tank decor that not only would be visually pleasing but pet-friendly as well.
This is easier said than done though. While it is very tempting to use that exotic-looking piece of driftwood that you saw somewhere at the beach, that very nice-looking piece of wood may be home to harmful organisms that would wreak havoc on your pet reptile’s intestines, skin or other body parts. However, you may opt for the easier option – go to the nearest reptile tank decor shop and get decor-happy. Or try the easiest one – look for eye-pleasing and pet-friendly reptile tank backgrounds, reptile wood and reptile plants online.
Backdrops
Reptile tank backgrounds are usually acquired for its aesthetic value. After all, it would be nice to be able to look at a lovely background while spending quality time with your pet. These products range from jungle backdrops to desert backgrounds.
Climbers
Reptiles like it when they are on top of the world (or their world), or at least, when they get to see the world from the top. It would be nice to place something that he could climb on. Simulated jungle vines would make good reptile tank decors. You might also want to put climbers in varying distances from the heat and UV source so that your pet can get closer or farther from the light, depending on his needs (or his moods). Some pet stores have reptile wood available so you wouldn’t have to sterilize some piece of driftwood.
Reptile hang-outs
Many reptiles are diurnal and they like to sit under the light. It would be nice if you get an interesting piece of reptile wood for your pet to sit on. Reptiles also like hiding places. Like other creatures, they might need some time alone so you need to provide them with half-logs and similar pieces of reptile wood. Your pet would love exploring these hiding places
Reptile Plants
When setting up your reptile enclosure, you might want to place reptile plants. Choosing reptile plants is not easy, since there would be a lot of cross-checking needed to find out whether a reptile plant is safe for your pet. There are plants that would not be harmful to certain species, but would not be as safe for another. You also have to keep in mind that when these plants might be damaged or eaten by your pet, it means that you have to get some again. Some of the most frequently recommended reptile plants are Snake plants and Spanish moss. There are also reliable online resources that can provide extensive information about recommended reptile plants to anyone willing enough to spend time to ensure the safety of a beloved pet.
